GREAT Location near the tropical forest preserves and the Sarapiqui River, right near the Best Chocolate Farm, where we also took a night hike, and just down the road from Aventuras del Sarapiqui (excellent whitewater rafting). It's a private house off the main road and I was worried about dogs barking as mentioned in some other reviews, but it was not a problem at all. It's a split level with two separate sleeping spaces, king bed in upstairs room and queen bed in the downstairs room, each having their own bathroom with showers. The main kitchen/dining area was great for preparing easy meals: rice and beans for dinners and fried egg sandwiches for breakfast. And best of all is our host, Maria who has been SO accommodating and friendly. We just message each other through WhatsApp (I use Google Translate to convert from her Spanish to my English). It's not a luxury hotel but instead a very artistically decorated two bedroom apartment and I highly recommend.

Featuring a garden, Eco Guest House - Sarapiquí 1 is situated in Sarapiquí, within 35 km of La Paz Waterfall Gardens and 38 km of Catarata Tesoro Escondido. It is located 33 km from La Paz Waterfall and features private check-in and check-out. The guest house also provides free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. This "Guest House" is huge. A family of 4+ could easily move in here and live comfortably. The back decks are beautiful to just sit and watch the jungle. It is a little way down the road from the city, which means it is quiet and very laid back. I had both a breakfast and a dinner while at the guest house. Both were great portions with a lot of variety, tasty, and well worth the money. Unfortunately, my schedule and Wendy's schedule didn't align for her bird tour. There was lots of flora and fauna to explore. My personal sightings included Toucans and a Morpha butterfly. I'm willing to bet that there was a lot I missed that Wendy could have found and shared!

The house has tons of charme and the property is incredible. We highly recommend the breakfast - it's delicious and you can choose if you would like to eat in the dining room of the farm house or outside in the garden. They also provide yoga mats to use in the garden.

Location was great, not too far of a drive for the day of arrival it placed us very close to our first activity on the following day. Poás Volcano and Bajos del Toro Blue Falls trail. The restaurant was great, we had a very tasty warm meal upon our arrival and breakfast was great. The whole facility was beautiful and well groomed. Staff were nice and extremely helpful. They helped us book online the tickets we needed while we used their computer.

Beautiful location in the forest. House had 2 balconies and 2 porches providing excellent birdwatching. Wendy is a very knowledgeable guide and provided excellent birding and night hikes.
