This place is amazing! It’s definitely the best stay for our three-week round trip . I can only recommend it. We booked a Standard double room , Which was their basic category. But it was fantastic! The room was super clean , which is not always in Sri Lanka. They had everything more than we expected like air conditioning, hot water , mosquito nets , a fan , tea coffee, and even pool towels were provided in the room. Also best value for the money. Unbeatable! The Wi-Fi was great in the room and restaurant. Pool area also had a another Wi-Fi which was good. The pool was our favorite super Large,clean like the rest of the property surrounded with nature great to relax and in the pool even have kind of jacuzzi that you can get a massage in the water :) We also booked a Half day 7 Hour safari tour through them and it was fantastic . Price was also very good compared to other offers we had . We saw many elephants, birds and many other animals . Had a great time with the breakfast inside the park .The driver explained everything to us and was very experienced. He didn’t bother animals or go with too many jeeps . If you’re going on a safari definitely go with the hotel. The owner was very friendly, professional and had lots of experience in the industry. The rest of the staff also very helpful and available always with a smile . Thanks a lot for the wonderful stay ! We‘ll definitely come back . Highly recommend this place!

My favourite stay in Sri Lanka. Sachi and Hansi were amazing hosts who always went the extra mile. The property is a beautiful, peaceful oasis in Udawalawa and the pool is great. Breakfasts and dinners were delicious!

The hospitality, and privacy are unmatched in this touristy area, two small private bungalows, hidden in the jungle-garden. We had an incredible stay. Leel organised the safari, which was amazing. He knows the park well, doesn't stay in the beginning of the park but drives well in the park to find the best spots! Dinner (curry) was great, Leels wife is an amazing cook! Will definitely recommend and stay there again.

Anju is really nice and very helpful. Dinner and breakfast were really good and made with fresh ingredients from the garden! He even went above and beyond to give us a extensive breakfast at 5am. The room was also very nice. Tours can also be done with him! I really recommend to stay here!

The staff made sure we felt welcome during our stay. From providing earlier breakfast packages to asking personally if we would like dinner everything was great. The location and the design of both hotel and rooms were beautiful. We had a relaxing stay and enjoyed every second of it. The staff and manager were always kind and helpful in any issue that occured.

Everything at Amba Kola was exceptional - especially the people. Louise, Janik, and Janik’s whole family are the loveliest people you will meet. The food is fantastic - everything is locally sourced and prepared with the finest spices and lots of love (Janik’s mom is an award-winning cook by the way). At Amba Kola the hosts will go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. They took us around in their safari jeep to see the elephants and wildlife and we even went swimming in the canal! The room (and the whole property) are lovely with so many personal touches to it. Louise is an artist and her art is present all over the place! Also, the outdoor bathroom is unique. I showered in the dark under the stars - an experience like no other. All I can say is: Come to Amba Kola and see for yourself. These people deeply care for what they do and it shows in every aspect. You won’t be disappointed!

Lovely setting in a beautiful homestay environment. It was very peaceful sitting in their beautiful garden, and the orchestra of frogs in the evening was a delight. The rooms were comfortable and spotless. Dimu and his wife were so genuine and lovely, and the curries were delicious. Dimu organised a safari tour with Sumudu as our guide. Sumudu's knowledge and respect for the animals was very much appreciated. We saw many wild elephants, Sambur deer (very rare), deer, wild boar, golden jackals, Buffalo, crocodiles, peacocks, monitor lizards, mongoose and many beautiful birds. One of the highlights of our trip! Thanks for an amazing stay, Dimu!

Quiet location with lovely outdoor space. Room+bathroom were clean and comes with AC, mosquito net and even a fridge. Very friendly staff that give us complementary welcome drink and the owner arranged everything for us, including lunch on arrival (7USD/2200LKR), the safari (60-67 USD for 5h). He even went out of his way to drop us off in the city centre (free!).

Really nice place and staff. Nice pool. Good food. Mosquitoenet, air conditioner and fridge in the room - all working perfectly. We had a great stay and great value for the money! Perfect place to stay 2-3 days if you go in safari. You can relax by the pool (which is outdoor) on great sun beds in the afternoon.

Nice clean hotel and rooms. Location near the Udawalawe National park, but not much else nearby. Big plus for bikes you can use for free! All in all a good place to stay for a night or two to see elephants and go for a safari. We had a half board with safari. Friendly staff!

Lovely hosts, great homecooked food, beautiful gardens, really nice room and perfect location. Sachith helped us organise a great full day safari where we saw lots of animals including loads of elephants, eagles, crocodile, monkeys, jackals, bee eaters and other birds. We had a really lovely stay and would definitely recommend.

Honestly, this is the best place to stay in the region by far. The place if awsome, we booked for a night and we regretted to not stay longer. The tents are designed in a great manner, very clean, very spacious and comfortable. The swimming pool is huge and you will not get out of it for sure. For dinner, we ordered the mix seafood platter, it was yummy, Tuna, prawns and calmari were so delicious. I highly recommend this resort, and for at least 3 nights.

Max Safari Villa was nice and cozy place to stay in Udawalawe. Location is good, near of national park and baby elephants home. There are different safari options available. It was worth it to see many different animals. Breakfast and dinner was also really good.

Perfect place to stay if you're heading to Udawalawa Safari. Buddika it's super close to the entrance to National Park. The host is super friendly, and had organised the Safari trip for us and lovely dinner after we've came back from Safari. The room we have stayed in was nice and bright and it looks even better than in the photos. Overall great place with peaceful environment, nice food and very fair prices.

Max’s Safari Villa was exceptional. The guesthouse is fabulous-clean, comfortable and very welcoming. Max will organise the best safari-his drivers are so skilled and knowledgeable and work hard to give you a unique experience. Our safari was a highlight of our trip!! And on top of all this the food that Max’s mum prepares is so delicious. Look no further -this is the best place to stay!

Overall really lovely place to stay. The location was great to get to the national parks and the setting of the house was lovely. What made our stay was the service from Tiron and his family who instantly made us feel welcome and gave us anything we needed. They made us a delicious home made Sri Lanka dish also which was amazing. Highly recommend.

With out a doubt one of the best locations in Sri Lanka where we have stayed in the last 3 weeks! A big room, which was extremely clean. Great bed, and perfect shower! And really close to the park. The manager and his team do everything to help you out for the park visit. And the chef makes sure you don’t have to go to the town. By the way; there isn’t anything in the town anyway, so better stay at the hotel for lunch and dinner. 👍🏻
