The building is beautiful and the room was lovely. There was a water jug available, and even some mint Mentos — which really helped during our long drive! It’s the little touches like these that show how thoughtful and welcoming this place is. It’s become one of my favorites, and I’d love to stay here again next time I visit Launceston.

The location is very good, only few minutes drive to the national park. The food is very tasty and worth a try, both breakfast and dinner!! The bar has a very good view over the beach. You can order a drink and enjoy the sunset at the bar. The room is clean, comfortable, and well equipped. There’s a compact kitchen which has everything you need. Bathroom is spacious. Overall, it’s a very food hotel and I think the quality matches the price.

Such a beautiful, historic and interesting city which we thoroughly enjoyed exploring. The traffic was easy, people kind and friendly, food and coffee delicious and lots of local, independent shops to visit. The history was so interesting and we really appreciated the beauty of the buildings. The tourist board has done a fabulous job of making the European history come to life, and did not shy away from the the effects on the indigenous inhabitants in each area without embellishing or dramatising the facts. The staff at these places were deeply engaging and highly knowledgeable and their passion was infectioius. We left Tasmania knowing we will return, so thanks to everyone we met for making our too short visit a wonderful experience

Having been to and really loving Hobart, my daughter and I decided to try the next biggest city in Tasmania, Launceston. It's not as vibrant and does not offer as many attractions as Hobart, but does boast the glorious Cataract Gorge and Tamar Wetlands. With a car, you can also visit landmarks including Cradle Mountain, the Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary and Freycinet National Park. We also chanced upon the Truffle Farm Tasmania on our drive to the wildlife sanctuary and stopped for some truffle oil, mustard and cream!

Retirement by the sea. Very few young people. Standout IGA & General Store. Indifferent (and rude) staff at one high profile take away!! BUT WAIT - the place you must go to is the iconic Melshell Oyster Shack at nearby Dolphin Sands. Not fancy buildings, just genuine people concentrating on the perfect oysters. You need a full day. The cruise is included in the entry and very informative. You can book various tours and take a walk around by yourself. For those with mobility problems a free buggy will take you to various sites. Some places have steps. There is a great cafe that sells hot or cold food and drinks a gift shop ad a dining room for nght time meals. There is a lovely Cafe and museum at the lunatic asylum along with restrooms. Make sure you have your camera ready as some beautiful birds throughout. Wear comfy shoes and be prepared for quick change in weather. overall it is a very great insight in the harsh conditions convicts endured. Enjoy.
