This stay is simply amazing. It is in between the mountains and has a beautiful view and beautiful surroundings. Simply loved it. The room are super clean and shared toilets are also kept in a very nice order. Restaurant offers good menu. Staff is very helpful and hospitable. I recommend this stay to everyone who wish to stay away from touristy area yet in a hidden gem of Switzerland.

Giessbach is like stepping into a fantasy. The place is fabulous and the interior of the hotel is very butiful. Great nature and beautiful lake surrounding the place. The dinner was great with live, classical music accompanying great food and service. The spa is wonderful and included with great sauna and steam and a very good size panoramic pool. The feel of the hotel is elegant and classic. Wonderful piano music with dinner. A stay in a local hotel gives you free access to excellent public transport covering quite a wide area, including the renowned Zentrum Paul Klee, designed by world famous architect Renzo Piano. There's a lot to see and do in Bern, from the well known Zytglogge to the bears enclosure, art galleries, historical churches, buildings and fountains, any kind of shops in and around the famous arcades, a wide variety of restaurants. It's a relatively small city and feels very safe and congenial. It's very easy to get around, on foot and by public transport (buses, trams). My favourite activity in Bern is to wander down the arcades and look at (and visit) the shops.

We were there for a quick trip, ostensibly to go to Jungfraujoch, which was a fantastic day trip. We spend the other day exploring Interlaken, which is such a gorgeous town, and going up Harder Kulm to the lookout.

There was a great view from my balcony as we could see Mount Eiger facing us closely from time to time. The location of the hotel was also great as it was just 4-minute walk from the Grindelwald station. In fact, the room size was a bit small. However, the breakfast was good with variety.

Dinner on the lake, afternoon tea at Schloss Schadau, downtown area by the river. plenty of scenic side trips like the funicular up the Neisen and the Thunerseespiele (musical presented in an outdoor theater overlooking the lake) and plenty of other things to se and do

Not worth the money to book accommodation for even a one night stay. Only cheap & tacky shops, lacks character & charm - very small (but there are so many lovely quaint towns in Switzerland!), & forgettable. Was recommended an Indian restaurant by a local - & that too was lousy :(

Three days would have been right if the weather had cooperated. We had 3 days of rain and clouds. Did not go to the top of either mountain as it was totally fogged in on all 3 days. We did enjoy the rest of the area, doing what we could in the rain.

Very nice location on its own, you are also very close to visit the Ballenberg open air museum, the Lungern area, Meiringen, Rosenlaui, Rothorn, St-Beatus Caves and take a boat ride on Lake Brienz. You are also close to Lauterbrunnen, Interlanken and Thun.
