The location was fantastic- beautiful white sandy beach, ocean view from bedroom window. We especially liked that there was NO music playing or smoking allowed on the property - just the sound of the birds and the waves. Good choice for breakfast and all other food from the menu for lunch, snacks and dinner (large portions). Beach bar always open to buy drinks and cocktails. Beach was cleaned and raked every morning and there were plenty of sun beds and chairs plus umbrellas and trees for shade. The staff were friendly and helpful ( also patient with us as we have zero Spanish!!!). We recommend using their suggested transport options from Cartagena - Nando (taxi) and Christian (boat). We were able to rent a boat for a couple of hours to go snorkelling and touring the islands. N.B. There are fish and a sunken plane to see when snorkelling but sadly all the coral has died. Carey Beach was the nicest sandy beach BY FAR that we saw and there were spectacular sunsets every night!

Our stay at Hotel Calamari Baru was so relaxing! We had one of the ocean view rooms, and it was perfect to relax. We loved hearing the sound of the waves as we slept. Christian helped us with our bags when we arrived later in the evening. The food and service at the restaurant were great and made our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was also included in the stay. The reception staff helped us book our boat trip back to Cartagena which was helpful! We would definitely recommend this hotel. It was one of the better looking accomodations on the strip.

Everything was perfect, I was spoiled from the beginning to the end. The island is a paradise, the staff super kind, the beer free and fresh! The island is plenty of rare and kind animals and amazing flora. I would definitely recommend it to disconnect and to spend fews days without stress.

The staff are absolutely delightful and do everything they possibly can for you! The service was great and the room was exactly as pictured online. It can be really hot on the island, but the fan in the room was super powerful and meant you stayed quite cool and very comfortable, particularly with the cross breeze from the big window. Rooms were a decent size, clean, and comfortable. There was no blaring reggaeton music from this place or any surrounding, which was quite a nice change from Cartagena! We automatically had a tab, which was so nice, as it meant we didn’t have to worry about cards and paying until we checked out. The pina coladas were also incredible!! We loved sitting on the chairs all day, popping in and out of the water to cool down. There are a fair few rocks and coral out the front, but just be aware of it and don’t kick your toe!

What else can be said about this magical place. The new and spotless hotel is located in a remote location easily accessible by boat from the main pier in Barù. Our suite had three balconies, each facing the ocean from a different direction, sunrise from one, open ocean and shade from the other and sunset from the third one. The staff, including Oscar and Antonio, were great as well as the front desk manager, Jairo, who went the extra mile to made sure our stay was perfect. We highly recommend this place for its charm and relaxing surrounding.

I am writing this review from Playa Blanca Baru. One can'' t comprare. In Playa Scondida it was so quiet, so family-like... of course if one likes solitude. The couple who takes care of you- are very nice people, ready to fulfill every wish of yours. All staff were extremely nice and friendly. The place is perfect for 3 days. Thank you for everything.

Top location, out of the most common and crowded fancy places in Baru. Quiet and relaxing. Swimming pool was really nice. Restaurant delicious. Day-trips to Rosario islands well organized from Casa Cordoba, really worthy. A place to recharge yourself.
