A truly outstanding stay! The room was comfortable with a brand-new bathroom, and the view from the terrace was just stunning. The owning couple are such lovely people who clearly put a lot of care and attention into every detail. Breakfast was amazing and far above what you’d normally expect in this area. Overall, this hotel offers so much more than the usual standard – highly recommended!will come back for sure!!

You are given a unit to yourself, which is basically a double story house. There is a TV and kitchen and 2 bathrooms. The shower and bathtub were both quite fancy with various settings and great water pressure. The windows all had the automatic outside blinds which assisted in keeping the room dark and at a good temperature. It was also close to city centre, which was great as we walked everywhere.

Great place with wonderful owners. The room was very fresh and spotless. Breakfast and dinner were both really good. I do enjoy that you need to order beforehand. The portions are very generous. You sort of forget it's a hotel, but you get the feeling you've come to someone's home. I really enjoyed my stay and would come back!

Visit Quedlinburg: Germany’s first capital

This well-preserved medieval town is home to over 1300half-timber houses and the impressive Burgberg castle. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is framed by the Harz Mountains.

Be charmed by Wernigerode and Brocken

Brocken is the highest peak in Northern Germany, and at its foot lies the charming town of Wernigerode. Walk through the forest for views of the town’s timber-framed houses.

Try a glass of Schierke Feuerstein

For a typical Harz drinking experience, sample a glass of Schierke Feuerstein. Produced in the town of Schierke, this herby liqueur has a distinct bitter taste.

Soak in the views from atop the Roßtrappe

Roßtrappe is a granite crag that looms 403 m above the Bode Gorge. You can hike, drive or take a chairlift to the top, where you’ll be rewarded with spectacular scenery.

Sample local delicacy: Harzer cheese

You cannot visit the Harz without tasting the local Harzer cheese. This sour milk cheese is made from low fat curd, and typically served on some hearty Rye bread.

All aboard the Harz Narrow Gauge Railway

Serviced by steam locomotive trains, this railway traverses some of Harz’s most scenic areas. Rideto Brocken’s summit, and enjoy a beer to the backdrop of stunning views.

Christmas comes to life in Quedlinburg

Discover the magic of Christmas in the historic town of Quedlinburg.Advent is celebrated with decorated alleyways, seasonal music recitals and beautiful shop window displays.

Be bewitched by Walpurgis Night

According to legend, on the eve of April 30, witches gathered on the Brocken to celebrate spring. Today this tradition is celebrated with bonfires, pranks and witchy dress-ups.

Admire Goslar’s carved half-timbered houses

Please do visit painfully pretty Goslar. One day is enough to roam the streets and gasp at the beauty of the half-timbred homes. There's a Greek restaurant which I missed out. Tip: stay near the centre and in one of those older buildings for the full flavour experience

Fantastic town to walk around with oodles of old buildings tastefully maintained/restored. Plenty of opportunity to shop, although is seems this time of year, late September, things are slowing down and not every place is open. Had a great meal at the Zum Bar Hotel, you'll want to dine here at least once!

Braunlage has a lot to offer, nice walks, and we loved the monster roller activity on the mountain. Puppe's bar is a really nice place to drink. And you have a great choice of nice restaurants. Reservation is required, especially the best rated restaurants on trip advisor are usually completely occupied. You can do some nice shopping too. We visited Quedlinburg, Halberstadt, Goslar, bad Harzburg, Thale and Weringerode, all very beautiful cities/villages. The roads in between these cities are beautiful.

If you want nature for your holiday, then Ilsenburg is the right choice! Mountains, trees, fantastic view from top! For hiking it’s one of the best route! Unfortunately, there’s also part of nature that, most of the trees are affected by the fest or plague so you will see that a lot of trees are dying or dead and some mountain are bald! Anyhow, we did hiking down and up till Brocken! And up there , 1142 m high is breathtaking👍😊

Town is full of history with medieval houses and a hilltop castle that is very popular for German tourists. English is not common, especially in restaurant or their menus, so sometimes difficult for non-German speakers. Great place to visit Harz Mountains hiking areas and the Titan-RT suspension bridge and Dam and the Wendefurth reservoir for boating. Harz Railway Steam train to the Broken Mountain.

I am a history buff, and am quite interested in European history. Quedlinburg, the many narrow cobblestoned streets and wood-framed houses, the great majority of which were fully restored, offers a perfect window into times long past.
