SpainOur experience at Steigenberger Resort Alaya Marsa Alam was excellent from start to finish. The level of service exceeded all expectations. Beautiful, spacious rooms with comfortable beds, terraces, and, most importantly, separate bathrooms with good doors (not glass), wonderful pools, very clean, bar staff and poolside staff do everything possible to ensure a pleasant stay.
Delicious and varied food and desserts, lots of fresh fruit, and absolutely delicious smoothies made from mango, strawberry, and agave. They were magnificent.
A very good gym, it has everything you need for a quality workout.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay. And would love to visit this hotel again.

The atmosphere of the entire hotel was calm and elegant, and the staff were consistently helpful, kind, and professional-always making sure we had everything we needed.
We especially loved the restaurant by the pool-it became our go-to place each day. The food, the setting, and the service there made every meal feel special.

From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home. The serene atmosphere, surrounded by desert and sea, makes it an ideal escape for anyone seeking peace and connection with nature. It’s quiet, authentic, and soul-soothing—exactly what I needed after days at sea.
The food is exceptional—flavourful, fresh, and served with a smile. Huge thanks to Abil, the wonderful restaurant manager, and his amazing team for going above and beyond every single day. Their warmth and attentiveness made every mealtime a pleasure.
A heartfelt shoutout also to Chico, the incredibly kind and thoughtful pool staff member who truly looked after me like family. His gentle care and positive spirit made my stay even more special.
And if you’re a diver—you’re in luck! There’s a fantastic dive shop right on-site, ready to help you explore the underwater wonders of the Red Sea.
The entire team at Wadi Sabarh Lodge is just wonderful—so friendly, helpful, and full of heart. I genuinely couldn’t have imagined a better place to relax, recharge, and soak in the sun and peace.

The food was delicious with a great variety of options, and the drinks were top-notch, thanks to the amazing bartenders. The property itself was stunning—beautifully maintained, clean, and offering breathtaking views.
A special shoutout to Mohamed salim from reception, who went above and beyond to assist us with everything we needed. Also, a huge thank you to Taha, the barman, who made our evenings even better with his amazing cocktails and friendly attitude. The entertainment team truly made a difference in our stay—Yousaf Mohamed and Rico, you guys are incredible! Your energy and enthusiasm made every activity and show so much fun.

EgyptThe breakfasts are very good and plentiful. If you have the slightest request, do not hesitate to talk to them because they make your life easier.
Thanks to Mostafa, we were able to discover 2 incredible beaches with crystal clear water.
Also, we went several times to the GOBUS agency to get our tickets to Cairo but without success. The latter was constantly closed. Mostafa called to have the agency open especially for us. Without his intervention, we would not have been able to purchase our tickets.
The team is very cheerful and they will always do everything for your well-being. they are very helpful. We needed a hairdryer, Mostafa found one for us.
Also, there is room service, which is very rare in Egypt, outside of resorts
The place is very clean, very quiet, facing the beach and only 2 kilometers from the center. The bedding is exceptional. I recommend the place with my eyes closed following my experience.

I stayed with my family in two Deluxe Sea View rooms (1207 & 1208) from 21–28 August, on our first visit to Marsa Alam. The destination is perfect for anyone seeking relaxation, unspoiled nature, and exciting marine or safari activities.
Our stay at the Steigenberger Coraya Beach Hotel was an excellent choice for me and my family, especially since it was our first time at an Adults Only (18+) hotel. The experience was wonderful for anyone looking for peace and relaxation.
Every evening there are enjoyable theatre shows for about half an hour, as well as lively poolside parties, and if your stay includes a Wednesday, you will enjoy a fantastic Bedouin Night with a delicious Mandi dinner and traditional Bedouin shows that add a magical touch to the atmosphere.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the entire hotel team for their refined manners and elegant service. In particular:
Mr. Bahgat Abdelhamid for his professionalism, and constant presence to ensure guests’ comfort, always attentive and quick to resolve any remark. Reception team (Mr. Mina and Mr. Ahmed) for their kindness and responsiveness.
Of course, my gratitude goes to every member of the team without exception. It was truly an unforgettable stay, and I look forward to coming back again!

We are group that was travelling around in Europe before reaching Egypt and Marsa Alam was our first destination in Egypt. Gemma resort set the bar high to our expectations for the rest of the trip and an extraordinary example for Egyptian hospitality. Everything in the hotel was perfect. The rooms spacious and cleans, pools clean and in different locations and beaches were amazing with great snorkeling spots. I can not speak enough about the food, no moment in the day where food is not served and in different cuisines with amazing quality. The most interesting part to me thing is that everyone is assuring you are having good time in your stay and I literally mean EVERYONE. Whether it is Mr Mahmoud, Hazem and Mohamed on the front desk or Atef and Abdo on the pool and the beach or Chef Mohamed Salah in the kitchen, every single one of these gentlemen made sure that our stay was comfortable and did not hesitate to provide the required assistance.

Great value for money – peaceful stay with beautiful reef and pool
I stayed at Marina Resort in Port Ghalib and was pleasantly surprised by the combination of price and quality. The hotel has a charming traditional Arabian décor that creates a peaceful and nostalgic atmosphere.
One of the highlights was definitely the beautiful coral reef just off the beach – perfect for snorkeling lovers. The pool was large, clean, and very relaxing, a great spot to unwind during the day.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall service was good. While the food could be improved in terms of taste and variety, considering the overall experience and affordable price, it’s a great value for money.
If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing escape with stunning sea life and a good pool, this place is definitely worth considering.

The beach and the sea are amazing, really outstanding. The beach areas are beautiful, lots of space and privacy, access to the sea is fantastic and the sea itself with its unique marine life is a paradise. The food is excellent, lots of different dishes that we loved, international or local, a really great food experience, breakfast, lunch and dinner were just delicious. Than you very much to all the staff, for the kindness granted to us 24/7 and for making us feel at home. We loved every single aspect of our stay. Everything was outstanding. Simply PERFECT. The Alaya hotel guests has a private beach area at Coraya bay, my husband and I were given a lift there by a golf cart. Alaya staff greeted us at the beach area ,attending to our needs. providing beach chairs, umbrella and bar service . The swimming are is great, water is clean and warm. Snorkeling and scuba diving is available. I did snorkel and it was a great experience.

Port Ghalib is worth a visit, outside of the AI Hotels. Nice bars, good restaurants and friendly people. On Saturdays there is now a Cruiseship visiting Port Ghalib, hopefully the effects on the reef etc. will be not too negative.

I love Marsa Alam and Abu Dabab most, as far as the Red Sea...
I love Marsa Alam and Abu Dabab most, as far as the Red Sea goes. My favourite place of all time is the Concorde Moreen Hotel, with the Hilton coming a strong second.
We only ate at the hotels, because our time was limited.
I used the taxi service offered online by Booking.com, which I found to be very efficient and reasonable. But I am also a seasoned traveller in Egypt and do not find it difficult to negotiate with taxi drivers. (It can be very useful to ask Chat GPT first what an average trip should cost you, if you are unsure, and then use that as a guideline for your negotiations.)
It's an amazing experience to go out on a boat, but picking the right one can make the difference. I will be leaving my review on our experience separately (as it warrants a whole story on its own :))

Very quiet town, simple and the sea is amazing.
Very quiet town, simple and the sea is amazing. You can swim anywhere.
No so much facilities ( food places, supermarkets,..) and pharmacies located around hotels.
Weather is hot, limited gas stations and road is not preferable to be taken at night.

The sea was beautiful.
The sea was beautiful. Unfortunately strong winds kept me from going into the sea. We stayed mostly in the lagoons. There was no access to sea from the beach, only from the pier. The life guards were good and attentive.

Beach area we were in wasn't the greatest,no swimming area ,too shallow and rocky not sandy.Took quad ride out in desert was fun.Lots of fish to see on reefs,water very clean.marss Mubarak has resident dugong and turtles but didn't see the dugong on our visit.Overall nice place ,a bit on the windy side but nice relief from heat.

Mainly, I noticed that someone bought a quad bike tour, and they were taken just a little way behind the hotel to ride on a pile of sand for a short while. There was trash and plastic all around, a complete wasteland—nothing pretty. I’m used to greenery, which I understand is lacking in this destination, but I definitely wouldn’t buy an overpriced camel or quad bike tour. Especially because, in that heat, it wouldn’t be an enjoyable experience for me, and with the trash around, definitely not. I did a diving trip, but it ended up being canceled. Unfortunately, they made us leave our things (like backpacks) in a place where locals were moving around, and we had no way to secure them. The original plan was that we would be on a boat. In the end, it didn’t happen, and that was probably for the best. I booked the trip through Booking. I had no particular expectations, even though we were supposed to see dolphins. Eventually, I arranged for diving, and I enjoyed it. Since I’m already a diver, it was easy, but when I saw how they even turn diving into a business, it bothered me. I saw parents forcing their 12-year-old daughter to try diving. She was crying, didn’t want to do it, but the father insisted because it was paid for. I watched her struggle and feel uncomfortable. It saddens me to see that everything can be bought with money, and that’s just wrong.

There is a public beach a little further away (a short walk across a small desert area) with exceptional underwater flora and fauna. Bring shoes for walking in the water. Please stay above or near the coral (personally, I didn't know there were risks to swimming too far from the reefs, namely sharks. But I didn't see any. On the other hand, there were some exceptional fish!
Port Ghalib is a tourist spot but much, much quieter than Hurghada. If someone tries to sell you something, just say ‘La, chokram’ with a smile and everything will be fine. Don't forget to tip a little, as Egyptians earn very little (around €400 per month for a family of four). For activities, I recommend Royal Sea Tours (royalsea-tours.com), who are really great.
