The hotel was tastefully designed, the room has everything you need! The staff was wonderful, going the extra mile to guide and help me. As someone who visits Edinburgh for the first time, I had a great impression of the city and will definitely come back to this hotel if I’m visiting Edinburgh again! 😊

Staff was very attentive and very friendly whoever you spoke to and they all made sure we had a good experience. The food was really good too. The newer area of the hotel was very nicely decorated and clean, and the old part of the estate still had a very cosy feeling, especially the bar in the "library" where we could sit and have a few drinks after dinner.

FAQs about hotels in Scotland

A Rugged Jewel

With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!

The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.

The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.

The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.

As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

Large and comfortable room with huge flat screen in front of the bed. A wide range of services and activities are available, including a nice restaurant with a view on the loch. We only stayed for a night, but it really is the perfect place to get away from the routine and relax for a while.

An amazing ‘home from home’ - a mini London with all the wonderful facilities, packed into a manageable space. Everyone should go there at least once - but once you have been - you’ll want to go again. It has a different appeal in different seasons so good excuse to keep visiting! Glasgow is a vibrant city with a great night life. The architechture of its buildings is magnificent and there are many historic sights of interest. There is a great range of restaurants, but do book as the night life is enjoyed by many. The hop on hop off bus is a great way to start a holiday and make good use of the time available.

I didn't know Glasgow Airport was in Paisley! I was only in the airport. I went straight to Glasgow and never saw or knew I was in the vicinity of a separate town called Paisley. I'm sure it's a lovely historic town, but I've never been there. The airport was fine, as airports go. The Marriott Hotel was great, like all the other Marriott hotels.

The castle is a must-see and we appreciated the free guided tour where we learnt so much about the castle and Scottish history. The views are amazing. There are plaques on a lot of buildings to explain what they were back in the day. We met up with friends who live in Stirling and took us on a tour round the old town, pointing out all sorts of things. We saw some groups doing walking tours and would otherwise have booked one. We didn't get to the jail which looked good. We're saving that for our next visit.
