I liked the spacious rooms. It allowed 3 suitcases to be opened at once. The washroom and shower was large enough to comfortably move around and the beds allowed a good night's sleep.

I stayed at Ibis Style Kyoto Shinjo for four days and definitely enjoyed my stay. Fantastic location, just a short walk to the nearest underground station which takes you to the main commercial area, and a bus stop across the street where you can take buses to most of Kyoto's famous temples and shrines. Also a coffee shop right next door and a lot of convenient stores nearby. Clean and cozy room. Comfort bed for those who prefer a firmer mattress. The room has a fridge and an e-locker. I requested a quiet room and they did give me a quiet room where I was able to have nice sleep every night. Really friendly staffs! I was greeted with warm welcomes :) (I see complaints about room size but I think the single room is just enough for 1 person)

Special thanks to the staff for helping arrange a taxi and also for extra effort to help us when the Typhoon Lan disrupted our travel plans. We enjoyed the Japanese style breakfast, the Japanese buffet lunch and the Japanese tea room.

Great location, kind of equidistant between Gion and the Train station. Next to a massive temple which is free to look around and stunning Staff were exceptional and extremely helpful. The room was clean and the cedar bath was lovely. We ate at the restaurant and were very impressed by the fusion Japanese cuisine and excellent Kyoto wine Would definitely stay there again

I chose this hotel for the location mainly but when we checked in, the place was pretty nice and spacious and we were able to really feel comfortable with our stay in Kyoto. The heater was working well plus it has great internet connection too. The place was fantastic overall. I do enjoy using the shampoos and conditioner that they provided as well.

Historical and beautiful.

Historical and beautiful. Transportation is easier to navigate than other city and food are also great. Considering to visit all temple and collecting the Goshuin -> that took a lot of time :) Considering an option of 1 day Kyoto bus and subway for 1100¥ is a great option for unlimited ride. Day trip to INE is worth also consider but be aware of weather in Dec, can be tricky. Also mostly place in INE is seems to be open on weekend. I was here in Kyoto for foliage and found what I wanted. Still a lot of place couldn't see but let's the next time visit to reclaim.

Miyazu which includes Amanohashidate, is one of three natural sites in Japan. The land bridge spans across the sea is fun to view from the observation points (on both sides) and you can actually bike (20 minutes) or walk (50 minutes) one way across. A small town with lots of charm and beauty.

The staff was awesome! They did everything in their power to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Room is extremely small by US standards! Room could use a microwave, the only one available was on the ground floor and I was on the 7th.

Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.

Gionmachi is a wonderful section of Kyoto and offers much to see and experience. It is easy, maybe 15 to 20 minutes taxi to other areas of Kyoto that are also beautiful, historical and traditional. Overall, this is a place I would come back to because I have much more to see.

I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.

I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The location was perfect - close to town but not in town. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. Close to the train station as well. I will certainly stay here on my next trip to Kyoto.

There are so many non-Japanese tourists with selfie sticks it starts to feel a little Disneyland of cities. It is difficult to get a picture without several selfie sticks poking into your picture and lines are very long everywhere. The best way to enjoy it is to go to unknown temples that are on the outskirts of town that are just as beautiful and special as the most popular ones and your experience can actually be peaceful and moving. Also, walk the narrow side streets at night to feel something a bit more authentic in atmosphere.
