Everything! The beds were comfy, the room was spacious and clean. The service was exceptional. There is a complimentary small breakfast with pastries every morning which was a really neat touch. The staff are very hospitable and can't do enough for you. The location is wonderful, just 15 minutes from the busy centre but the immediate area is so quiet! It's also very close to the river for morning walks.

The property was clean and tastefully furnished, and located within a cute local housing area (but still convenient enough to travel to the key attractions). Service was also great with friendly and helpful staff. To top it off, the property houses a great Thai restaurant which serves a good variety of authentic Thai lunch/dinner options. Special mention that the restaurant was kind enough to help me modify their food to cater to my vegetarian/meat-free preference.

We booked the Japanese room for 3 people and it was really 😍 beautiful. The beds were very comfortable, and the room had a few power sockets near the beds, very convenient. The location is good. About 300m from Nishiki and near to our favorite halal ramen restaurant. Train station is within walking distance. There is no kitchenette in the room, but they have a laundry room behind the lobby.

I stayed at Ibis Style Kyoto Shinjo for four days and definitely enjoyed my stay. Fantastic location, just a short walk to the nearest underground station which takes you to the main commercial area, and a bus stop across the street where you can take buses to most of Kyoto's famous temples and shrines. Also a coffee shop right next door and a lot of convenient stores nearby. Clean and cozy room. Comfort bed for those who prefer a firmer mattress. The room has a fridge and an e-locker. I requested a quiet room and they did give me a quiet room where I was able to have nice sleep every night. Really friendly staffs! I was greeted with warm welcomes :) (I see complaints about room size but I think the single room is just enough for 1 person)

Wow. This hotel completely exceeded my expectations. The rooms were huge, bright and very well stocked. The washer/dryer in the room was a godsend for us as a family with a baby and the bathroom was luxurious with a freestanding bathtub. The staff are very welcoming and downstairs there is a cafe and salad bar all with fresh colourful ingredients. This hotel was 1/3 the price of the more popular family suites chain in Japan but it was every bit as good if not better

Kyoto is a beautiful city.

Kyoto is a beautiful city. Not as hectic as Tokyo and full of beautiful sites where you feel like you are stepping back in time. The food was consistently delicious, we enjoyed a wonderful Kaiseki meal in Gion. We were lucky to be there in peak fall season and got to see spectacular fall colors, Would love to come back and spend more time here.

Miyazu which includes Amanohashidate, is one of three natural sites in Japan. The land bridge spans across the sea is fun to view from the observation points (on both sides) and you can actually bike (20 minutes) or walk (50 minutes) one way across. A small town with lots of charm and beauty.

Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.

The staff was awesome! They did everything in their power to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Room is extremely small by US standards! Room could use a microwave, the only one available was on the ground floor and I was on the 7th.

Gionmachi is a wonderful section of Kyoto and offers much to see and experience. It is easy, maybe 15 to 20 minutes taxi to other areas of Kyoto that are also beautiful, historical and traditional. Overall, this is a place I would come back to because I have much more to see.

I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.

I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The location was perfect - close to town but not in town. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. Close to the train station as well. I will certainly stay here on my next trip to Kyoto.

best daytrip was Ohara just 1 hr by bus passing along scenic Takano River lined with maple trees in autumn foliage! Beautiful stretch maybe 15-20minutes midway to Ohara Kibune was nice though much smaller Uji is a nice day trip too, walkable town for best matcha beautiful Kyoto station all lit at night to the 11th floor Ramen floor the Philosopher's Path is a great walk from garden to the 3 quaint streets /Gion NAKAGYO WARD's small Shinsenen Garden is a nice, quiet tho SMALL place to go to at the start of the day -very near (10-15min walk) our Meldia Stay Nijojo hotel a nice mini mall also at Nakagyo Ward: with beautiful tea shops and a few high end Japanese shops @ ShinPuhKan. also w a few retaurants
