What a place!! So quiet, and beautifully situated. I stayed in a traditional hut. It has all you need. Slept like a baby. Check out the museum. Very informative. The food was delicious. The staff ever so sweet and welcoming. They serve alcoholic drinks at the bar where also locals hang out. Great vibe! We even danced. Could have easily stayed longer..

Simply Amazing. Ms. Mercy, who is the owner of the Facility, she personally drove down from Nairobi to meet us. Had a great conversation with her. It's a new Hotel, very well maintained. Small but one of the best hotels I ever stayed, even when compared to the likes of Europe and the US. We had our dinner at the hotel and the cheff and restaurant staffs were amazing. While leaving for Safari the next day after we checked out, we forgot the Kettle in the room and given that our baby was with us and I will have a hard time finding a new kettle outside the city, she arranged a conveyence to deliver the kettle to us in the Park. For the next day, the Hotel Staff prepared a hearty breakfast for us all,especially keeping the kids in mind. Would definitely recommend Rock Hyrax to anyone who plans to visit Nakuru.

When you arrive you are immediately enveloped in luxury, cleanliness and the kindness and professionalism of the staff. Everything is beautiful and furnished with great taste, in fact we were ashamed because coming from a Game Drive we were obviously dressed for travel and dusty, but the staff welcomed us warmly without letting us notice our condition ;-) Just five minutes drive from Lake Nakuru, for New Year's Eve they organized a party with an amazing buffet, tables set in great style and luxury, colored lights everywhere, huge and beautiful rooms. You should stay a week rather than just one night. TOP Hotel, greeting to the staff and thanks for everything. Tara (Italy)

Cleanliness & the attention to detail in everything. It was immaculate not a speck of dust. The staff was super attentive and just catered to all our whims. The bed was amazing! a king bed, super comfy with soft white clean cotton sheets & duvet. The setting was to die for couple and family friendly... State of the art infinity pool and amazing food. Easy to access location just off the main highway and the proximity to Nakuru town allowed us to tour Nakuru sites while transiting from the hotel. The breakfast offered great variety and was varied for the length of our stay. Dinner was also tasty and the dining area is well kept. The rooms were fitted with double beds and an additional single bed, offering a great and comfortable space for accommodation. We also got cleaning every day and a lovely fireworks display for new years' eve. The board games available at no extra charge are an added advantage and so are the bicycles. One can cycle to lake elementaita for a small fee. Excellent place overall.

It met our expectations and went beyond. I could give it a greater number than 10. Wonderful view, zebras and waterbucks roam around in the day time and hippos in the evening. I specially like to thank Samuel for his wonderful sense of responsibility. He arranged the transfers and entertainments and closely was following it. Food was delicious and the staff like all the Kenyans we met were kind, helpful and friendly.

The hotel rooms are big and spacious, clean with comfortable beds. The breakfast and meals served at the hotel were delicious and mouthwatering. A lot of activities to do at the hotel and is perfect getaway from the hustles and bustles of the city for sports and nature lovers. The hot water bottle to manage the cold was a brilliant idea keep it up.

Location is central with shopping mall nearby to get currency or sett up cashless mpasa as national park does not accept currency in any form. All staff very helpful to advise on this. Place is clean with lots of fruit choices good quality coffees. Good value for money. Beds very comfortable. Good size pool. We would come again.

I loved everything until the moment when, during checkout, i was told that since I had prepaid on this platform and they hadn’t received the payment yet, I needed to pay the entire sum a second time otherwise I wouldn’t be allowed to leave the premises. I ended up paying a second time just because I had errands and am now disputing with the hotel for a full refund.

The food was great, the hot showers amazing. The views from our room was perfect .... could see the park well. The staff were all pleasant, and helpful. The lodge organised a tour guide for us.... Patrick was amazing and very patient on the game drive.... we were happy with the drive. Agnes was always very reassuring and always ready to help. The front office staff always very welcoming. We got to the lodge very late on the day of arrival, and Waithera at the front desk, kept engaging with us until we got there. She was very encouraging. The kitchen staff had kept dinner for us even that late. Thank you so much. Definately I place I would love to return to.

A great park filled with fantastic herds, animals and scenery but being ruined by too many trucks and vans. Animals are fantastic but the ruts, holes and roads need improving. Dust was everywhere. If to visit again, 1 or 2 days max.

Getting to Gilgil is not very easy especially on Fridays...

Getting to Gilgil is not very easy especially on Fridays evening because of the traffic at the busy Nairobi-Nakuru highway. If using personal, I recommend you leave Nairobi by noon. It will be a smooth sail. Nyama choma and grilled chicken are what you should order when there. The grill masters over there rearly miss on those options. Fun activities would be visiting Lake Elementaita and strolling around.

Web site a bit misleading as it appears to be on the lake but in fact there is no lake access but a tiny view of it if you walk to the far end of the garden and peer through the trees. Garden very over grown and has run down feel. Lovely lady who runs the place who did everything she could to welcome us. Quite basic room but value for money. A few campers - basic breakfast available

Kabarak University Nakuru town campus is one of the areas I visited and was utterly impressed by how clean, well-constructed, strategically situated, warm-welcoming and beautiful place it is. Their buses are relatively new and comfortable. The eateries surrounding this campus offer great fish and fresh juices. Westside Mall was a blast and Bolt taxi services are very helpful especially in the night. I will avoid a short vacation next time; everyone needs at least 6 days to really experience the good side of Nakuru alias Naks-Vegas..

Fantastic wildlife and some amazing wide open plains with beautiful views. Excellent birdlife and nice roads. Sadly, let down by the volume of cars and very rude, disrespectful guides who drive past you, showering you in dust even when it is clear you are leaning out of the car, taking pictures. Overcrowding of lion sightings with no control by park staff.

The hotel itself is located just past Gilgil town off the main highway and therefore easily accessible. It is just right accross lake Elementaita and the view is great from the hotel. Nakuru is also roughly 30 minutes drive away and therefore one can visit Nakuru National Park and Menengai crater without much of a hassle from here. There are also excellent Restaurants/hotels located not too far from here and on the scenic hills if one wants to explore Gilgil further. It is a surprising Gem. However, make sure to carry everything you need as there are no major supermarkets around.

Compared to Nairobi, it is a slower pace but that is the point. Getting a tour of the lake was the highlight of my trip. Next time, I want to explore Crescent Island fully. It only takes a couple of days to fully see everything there if you plan well.
