- From US$427.29 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.6Good - What previous guests thought, 2,996 reviewsI had an incredible experience at this hotel! I stayed in a Standard Double Room for four nights, and it was a truly enjoyable stay. Service & Staff 👏 From the Aquamarina restaurant staff to the front desk team, pool bar, and towel station attendants, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Their warm and welcoming attitude made my stay even better. Dining 🍽️ The hotel has four different restaurants, but I only dined at Aquamarina. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet-style, offering a wide variety of options. The average dinner cost was around 450-500 pesos. I was happy to see plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices, making it easy to find food as a vegetarian. Another huge plus was having a Starbucks inside the hotel, which was super convenient for me as a remote worker. Room & Cleanliness 🏨 My room was spotless, and the towels were fresh and clean. The hotel itself had a very clean atmosphere. The room was also well-equipped, featuring a large refrigerator, a microwave, and all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Location & Safety 📍 The location is perfect—situated at the corner of the Hotel Zone, it’s only a 5-minute walk to nightlife spots like Coco Bongo and other clubs. I felt very safe walking around, even at night. I enjoyed taking walks along the bike path—1-1.5 km towards La Isla and 2-2.5 km towards Playa Tortugas. The hotel also has a stunning beach, which is one of its biggest highlights! Entertainment & Activities 🎶 The hotel hosts nightly events, which added a fun touch to my stay. One night, a Mexican singer performed, and another night featured a dance show—both were fantastic! Final Thoughts 💯 Overall, my experience was excellent, and I truly believe the hotel is worth the price. I would definitely recommend it for its amazing location, great service, and stunning beach! Would love to visit again! 😊✨Guest review byZeynep Ecenaz AltınokTurkey
- From US$746.21 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.7Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 164 reviewsService: I spent one night at Papaya Playa Project in a beautiful Casita with a rooftop pool, and it was truly unforgettable. There is something about this place that captures the authentic soul of Tulum. The sound of the waves, the scent of the jungle, and the warmth of the people blend perfectly to create an atmosphere that feels both wild and deeply peaceful. Watching the sunrise from my rooftop pool felt like witnessing the world come alive. The sea in front of me, the palm trees swaying in the breeze, and the soft rhythm of nature all around me created a feeling of pure magic. What I loved most about Papaya Playa Project is its energy. It is not just a hotel; it is a place that makes you feel part of Tulum itself. Everything here feels genuine, earthy, and real. It is a space to disconnect from everything and reconnect with yourself. My stay was short but soul-stirring. I left feeling renewed, inspired, and with a piece of this beautiful place forever in my heart.Guest review byMontseMexico

I had a great full body massage on the beach with the hotel.
I had a great full body massage on the beach with the hotel. They had an offer ... it was worth every penny with the sound of the beach as a background noise. Just perfect!! I stayed at the hotel for all meals - nice and diverse options. Was not fan of anything that was served at the snack bar though.Guest review byNADIAUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean. I liked that the rooms were cleaned twice a day. The food was very good. Only lacking was night activities and they need to play American and Caribbean music in the club.Guest review byFay - 8.0

There are numerous sites to see in Merida, so book a stay that allows enough time to go on a few tours. I enjoyed the horse and carriage ride in the night - have a translator if your Spanish isn't good.Guest review byIfasinaBelize - 10.0
Antigua is a great location to get a taste of Guatemala.
Antigua is a great location to get a taste of Guatemala. It is easily accessible by private or collective vans from the Guatemala City airport. It is a very safe place to visit for single women or tourists traveling for the first time to Guatemala. The city is very walkable but be aware that the traffic in the streets has the right of way, so be careful stepping off the curb to cross the street. I love walking the streets and visiting the old church ruins. The Markets are full of local goods from Guatemalan artisans. If you have time the local interior market is an adventure worth exploring. The area has a multitude of great restaurants and places to eat. It's a good place to spend a few days, or just use it as a stop on your way to other parts of Guatemala.Guest review byGailUnited States - 2.0

As a family with tweens we did not enjoy Tulum & will not be back. The kids were not allowed many places/ restaurants. Algea covered the beach (it was july), the restaurants were priced higher than where we live but the quality of the food was poor. If you are a family I would skip and go elsewhere. The cenotes in the reason are awesome!Guest review byCaralynUnited States - 10.0

Safer than the last time I went to Guatemala - about 25 yrs ago- . A lot of non tourist places to explore. Beautiful country side. The only tourist area I explored were Antigua, lake atitlan, Flores which are well suited for tourist, with all the services they might desire. Other parts of the country some level of spanish is required. I spent 7 months traveling mostly northern part of Guatemala, only seeing a fraction of what the country has to offer to travelers.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

It’s a tiny town, best to get around with a car but taxis are available too. It has a proper Caribbean vibe and the lagoon is just fantastic - really clean, warm and sweet water. We also enjoyed the food at La Playita restaurant.Guest review byKlaudiaPoland - 8.0
The downtown area is full of good restaurants with excellent...
The downtown area is full of good restaurants with excellent Yucatecan food with reasonable prices, and service. The main Cenote and local food market is easily walkable from the main square. Walking is the best mode of transportation as everything is close by. The locals are welcoming and kind with a spirit of community and acceptance to outsiders. If you are fortunate enough to rent a place with a kitchen there is a grocery store on 39th street with everything you need to make a meal. They have a Turi bus that will pick you up at the main plaza for a fee and will take you around all the important parts of the city. The ADO Bus station is close by and can be used for trips to close by towns. They also have a "Vay y Ven" bus system for short trips around town. Valladolid is a quaint Spanish colonial style town with colonial architecture buildings mostly painted in pastel colors.Guest review byChuck and GailUnited States - 10.0

The town is charming, the restaurants serving local cuisine are delightful and the summer climate is amazing. 15 degrees at night and 22 or so during the day with no humidity. There are many activities in or near San Cristobal and we enjoyed the local parks at Arcotete and Grutas del Mamut. Our dogs were able to run off-leash and explore the forest. We spent a month at a Spanish language school (San Cris) which was a wonderful place to improve our language skills.Guest review byDonaldMexico - 2.0
Small town with terrible infrastructure.
Small town with terrible infrastructure. It is a shame to keep it in misery conditions with the loads of money brought by tourists, mostly foreigners happily walking in mud, dirty water ponds, as they walk in the luxurious boutiques owned by other foreigners. You may find amazing nature in many other Mexican destinations in better living conditions.Guest review byalejandrortizMexico
