Our third visit to this wonderful oasis. We come to see Andre the manager whom we fell in love with on our first visit approx 13 years ago. He was on top form making everyone feel welcome and ensuring everyone was having a relaxing time.
The property has a lovely large infinity pool overlooking the ostriches and fields which is so relaxing, there’s also a seating area and a bar which is is great to lounge in after a busy day out exploring.
Breakfast is an excellent varied hot and cold buffet and dinner is a delicious three course event with a Braai of a choice of meat, I really recommend the Karoo lamb or the local ostrich.
Room super comfortable overlooking the garden and fields with big king bed and lovely soft pillows, I love the decadent ostrich skin headboards that only this area of SA would have and consider normal. large bathroom with big bath and separate shower, also separate loo.
Always sad to leave this place.
Parking very safe just outside your room, very convenient. Everything spotlessly clean.

Beautiful haven near Ladismith. Interesting foliage around stunning, well appointed, luxurious flats and a little original farmhouse. All with little pools. A lovely central area to enjoy a very nice dinner. Christianette was exceptionally helpful with a medical issue in our party, which could’ve been a disaster for our holiday, but she really saved the day with excellent advice & organisation

Hospitality was wonderful, the host and hostes went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The accomodation and food were wonderful. The get togethers non the veranda watching the wildlife and hearing everything about the animals were very nice. We got great tips and help in planning many fun activities, that were booked and arranged for us by our host.

Oudtshoorn is a beautiful town, so much to offer day and night. many attractions in and around town which are definite must do items. Mostly the people of Oudtshoorn are humble and friendly. Amenities are super easy to find and always close by. Love this town. Le Dolce Vita very cozy, Karoopot, Karoo Markt, all are great places. Pricing well within budget

Unfortunately, we were there on a Monday and most restaurants close at 17:00 on a Monday. However, our host recommended we have dinner at the Karoo Art Hotel with a choice of fine dining or pub dinner. We choose pub dinner, which was delicious. Beautiful trail walks can be found around the farms. All-in-all a wonderful trip.

We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale,...
We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale, because when we arrived at the locked farm gate, we found there was no reception. We couldn't reach him, and it was soon getting dark, so we had to keep driving until we got signal again, which only took five minutes. Wann, the manager, was soon there and opened the gate to paradise for us... remote, behind two other farms, we were able to spend comfortable days in this Karoo resort. Wann was always available, and one evening his wife cooked us a delicious meal. A river, a hot tub, an ice bath, peace and quiet, and an endless sky—what more could you want? This is the place to be for anyone needing a break. For more romance, under the stars, bring candles and reading lamps.

The area surrounding De Rust is beautiful, especially the mountain passes, which have stunning scenery and lots of hiking opportunities. There are very few shops or restaurants in De Rust, but Oudtshoorn is just a easy 30km drive away and this has plenty of shops, restaurants and activities. Staying on a farm between the Meiringspoort pass and De Rust was perfect though. Just buy plenty of groceries before you get there!

Uniondale was the centre point of our journey distance wise - so convenient . Also we had not been there before so it made an interesting stop over. Scenery was stunning and the road excellent. Hotel built in 1832 (I understand). Uniondale is about 14 kms off main road and entry and exit are through two mountain passes which were most attractive.

From the main road it looks like just another dusty deserted Karoo town. What a pleasant surprise on turning off into the little town. We had a superb breakfast at @Stuff and met some interesting locals. The town is experiencing a resurgence and is intersting, well maintained and spotlessly clean.
