Our stay at Sanbona was phenomenal! From start to finish we had an incredible stay. The staff were so welcoming and couldn't do enough to help us. The rooms in Gondaana were beautifully designed and had every amenity we could ever have needed. Sitting on our deck and watching the wildlife was unforgettable. Our guide Brenda was extremely knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the local flora and fauna, whilst also ensuring we saw everything we wanted to see. The food in the restaurant was amazing and again, the design was faultless. Overall, a once in a lifetime experience!

Everything about our stay at Old Mill was wonderful. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer to enjoy the facilities and activities near by. We stayed in the luxury tents which were set overlooking the farm and pool. We loved the extra touches that made us feel welcome as well as the friendly staff. It is worth booking for breakfast too. Also recommended is a visit to the Cango Caves (you do need to pre book a time slot) and a meal at either Bufflesdrift Game Park ( booking essential - we missed out on this) or to Su Casa Olive Estate.

This is a beautiful place, nicely remote from the real world!
The food was excellent - great quality, taste and value. Excellent service from all we encountered.
We’d recommend visitors go on the nature drive… so much to learn about the beautiful Karoo. Great to be escorted by such an enthusiastic guide!
Another highlight was the pool - in such beautiful surrounds, and made even more magical by the evening visit of the zebra and various bucks to graze.
We’d love to return!

A lovely property to stay in on the route 62 with gorgeous views all around. The room was very spacious, and we also really enjoyed the private pool and sun deck area with the view over the vineyards. I booked a massage which was great, the staff overall were very welcoming and we felt a personal touch during our stay.
The breakfast was great, and we also had the dinner since you don’t really have anything around the estate, and we were very happy with it.

A very nice and lovely place with tasty breakfasts and dinner. The territory is big and beautiful. There are enclosures with ostriches and springboks there which children may especially like. Fishing rods for fishing in their pond are also available there, so despite the location is quite remote from the town, there is still a lot to do on the territory for adults and children. Hospitality was wonderful, the host and hostes went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The accomodation and food were wonderful. The get togethers non the veranda watching the wildlife and hearing everything about the animals were very nice. We got great tips and help in planning many fun activities, that were booked and arranged for us by our host.

Unfortunately, we were there on a Monday and most restaurants close at 17:00 on a Monday. However, our host recommended we have dinner at the Karoo Art Hotel with a choice of fine dining or pub dinner. We choose pub dinner, which was delicious. Beautiful trail walks can be found around the farms. All-in-all a wonderful trip.

On arrival, we were greeted by overflowing sewers pouring out into the main road. Smelt so bad, we could not go near the liquor store near the main road. Apart from that issue, the rest of the town was great.

We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale,...
We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale, because when we arrived at the locked farm gate, we found there was no reception. We couldn't reach him, and it was soon getting dark, so we had to keep driving until we got signal again, which only took five minutes. Wann, the manager, was soon there and opened the gate to paradise for us... remote, behind two other farms, we were able to spend comfortable days in this Karoo resort. Wann was always available, and one evening his wife cooked us a delicious meal. A river, a hot tub, an ice bath, peace and quiet, and an endless sky—what more could you want? This is the place to be for anyone needing a break. For more romance, under the stars, bring candles and reading lamps.

Uniondale was the centre point of our journey distance wise...
Uniondale was the centre point of our journey distance wise - so convenient . Also we had not been there before so it made an interesting stop over. Scenery was stunning and the road excellent. Hotel built in 1832 (I understand). Uniondale is about 14 kms off main road and entry and exit are through two mountain passes which were most attractive.

From the main road it looks like just another dusty deserted Karoo town. What a pleasant surprise on turning off into the little town. We had a superb breakfast at @Stuff and met some interesting locals. The town is experiencing a resurgence and is intersting, well maintained and spotlessly clean.
