The location, high above Lake Windermere, is wonderful - away from the touristy center of Bowness. The gardens and towering rhododendrons are spectacular. Our room had a lovely lake view. The staff was exceptionally accommodating. Loved the tartan carpets, the view from the dining room, and the great selection of books and magazines in the reading room. Wonderful, sugary home baked shortbread cookies in our room every day.

The location is fantastic with great views to the Lakeland hills and lake Windermere. The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard and the public areas are great with fantastic views. The accommodation, at least our room was small and the bed was also small but the fit out was good and the whole property is very clean.

Where I stayed was quiet and away from the main road but only a very short walk to the nearest main road bars restaurants gift shops for example.
10 to 15 minute walk down to Bowness on Windermere pier at the pierced the views were great we took one journey on one of the fairies which gave us wonderful views of the surrounding area the boat was extremely clean and very smooth.
Buses were regular every 20 minutes to half an hour it was a bit confusing at some bus stops in different places like Grasmere for example and Ambleside.
The 599 open top bus was nice with a audio tour guide of the surrounding area for your journey.
Overall our stay or was very pleasant we manage to do everything that we plan to do within our five day trip.
The two standout places for me was wast water which is a must see and Rydal water but to be honest it's beautiful whichever place you go to disease just get better and better.

Bowness is a lovely location on Lake Windermere.
Bowness is a lovely location on Lake Windermere. If you like trips by water, it is a good place to visit but a bit lacking in things to do apart from that. There is a good bus service to Kendal or Keswick but leave the car and use public transport. You can go to Ambleside by boat or bus but the town is packed during the summer season.

The view from the window, presentation of the property, decor of the room, bottle of water on arrival. Closeness of township.
The staircase was a challenge and heating could have been better controlled.

The location was just perfect.
The location was just perfect. It was central for us to adventure out and explore the Lake District. It was also an exciting location for relaxation in the evenings. Lots of fine restaurants and pubs to choose from with a lovely holiday atmosphere abounding everywhere.
Regretfully the car ferry was out of order and not available to us. That was a bit of a nuisance as our touring plans had envisaged that being available. None the less we had a fabulous holiday and were not overly put-out by the loss.

It is so easy going in Bowness we try to come here as often as we can. There’s something to do for everyone young and old. We have a dog now and he’s so relaxed here many places are dog friendly. Bars and restaurants brilliant especially Italians on the Main Street. Our favourite place can’t wait to come back

I liked the Beatrix Potter museum, Holehird Gardens, and Stagshaw gardens, Hayes garden centre up in Ambleside. Booked an amazing day trip with Mountain Goat tours that took us around ten Lakes of the Lake District with our amazing guide Mark Shipley. the restaurants I went to was Francine's up in Windermere, Urban Food House (superb) and the Magic Roundabout. I was within walking distance of everything in Bowness. I probably would avoid booking in the school holidays, was very busy everywhere. the weather was very changeable but it is the wettest area of Great Britain.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Fellview. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and we had a great night's sleep. Very central location, only a few minutes walk down the road to Bowness on Windermere. Free parking outside the guest house. We would 100% recommend and look forward to staying again soon.
Susanne and Glen are welcoming hosts.

Definitely recommend.
The Flat was kept beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could need and the shower room was clean and up to the minute in style. The decor was to a high standard some beautiful finishing touches. The flat was well equipped and in a very good position for the shops, restaurants and cafes in Bowness on Windermere.
Apartment was very comfortable and well equiped. Location was convenient for the centre of Bowness. The 2 en-suite rooms were a bonus and the kitchen facilities were superb. Apartments are set in the grounds of a hotel with beautiful gardens, although we didn't make use of them this time, we certainly would if visiting again in the summer.
The hotel completely exceeded our expectations. When we arrived, we were greeted by Nick who added so many lovely extras to the place. The beds are extremely comfy and every detail has been well thought of. The hotel itself is in a brilliant location in the heart of Bowness, a 2 minute walk to all the pubs and local shops.
The hotel location and quality of service was excellent. We asked for a view of Lake Windermere from our bedroom, and the view was stunning. The only fault with our stay was that the spa, which was part of the reason we booked this hotel, was unavailable or fully booked.
The hotel has a lovely view to the rear. All of the rooms I'm told were refurbished this year and they look nice and the showers fantastic. Although the location is at the end of the town it's a nice 10min walk down to the shops and restaurants
The hotel was nice made good use of the bar in the evening was staying with family (17 of us in total)
Only there for 1 night so did not get much chance to explore the hotel.
Was only there 17 hours due to a bereavement.
Cleanliness and location was perfect close to all pubs restaurant's and attractions on bowness bay a little hidden gem for peace and quiet and a stone's through to bowness on Windermere that has lots to offer for all.
Location was in quite zone
Staff were so friendly and welcoming
Room was spacious compared to london rooms. It was worth the money
We liked the fact that it is afew minutes walk to the lake and near the BUS stop
Very spacious.
Great location. Close enough to walk to the lakeside but private enough to avoid the crowds.
Clean and well equipped with everything you could possibly want for a short stay,
Beautiful garden.
location was fantastic, just a short walk to Bowness on Windermere. On-site parking, spacious rooms with robes and slippers. Use of the spa, sauna and steam room included. Lovely breakfast, lots of choice
Hotel location was great, just outside the main tourist area but with easy access to good pubs and restaurants. The lake view from the room we had (12) is exceptional.
