The location was tricky to get to, but that is not the hotel's fault. They are accessible only by foot due to the way the ancient town was built. I received excellent recommendations from the hotel about parking for our rental car. There is a secure parking building about 15 minutes walk away that cost 20 euro per day, although this is not the only option. The reception staff were excellent and organised for our luggage to be taken to our room - much appreciated considering the cobbled paths around the hotel. The room was large, quiet and well appointed. The included continental breakfast was adequate and the spa facilities were a nice addition.

What a wonderful way to look back and understand the culture of the day (400 BC) in beautiful Matera. MOYΣEION recreates the experience with the design of the hotel, the people, food, pool, furniture, architecture, right down to the dinner plates, cups and cutlery. The staff are all trained in the fields they love - like archaeology and share the journey. They also demonstrate beautiful music using instruments of the day. It's incredible. On top of this, the chef does an amazing modern interpretation of food from 400BC. It is all very cool. It is totally worth going with the flow and fully embracing and immersing yourself in the experience. We did, and we were rewarded for it. Finally, the staff are exceptional. So kind and attentive. They make it perfect.

The hotel is very calm and serene and the staff are all helpful and charming. We had a large suite which was well designed and extremely comfortable. From our balcony we could see the cathedral and some of the caves.

Perfect hotel! In every aspects! Big and specious room, the design of the hotel is amazing. It was the best decision to choose this cave hotel in the city of caves. The hotel offers delicious breakfast with wide range of selection. Very helpful and friendly staff. I will definitely choose this hotel again when I visit Matera again. From the hotel everything was within a few minutes walking distance.

Alina was a wonderful host – extremely friendly and welcoming. She greeted us warmly, showed us around the rooms, and explained the key sights on a map. The location is perfect, right in the historic center. You can drive up to Duomo Square to drop off your luggage, and then park in one of the nearby garages. A truly authentic and memorable experience in Matera.

Giuseppe find us a parking spot outside Sassi, and walked us to the rooms. In the whole path he offers a tour guide of the history of Matera. When we arrived at the rooms, he continue to explain us more and more staff about the interior of the old houses in Matera. He was awesome and very helpful.

Kitchen - amazing Food prepared in the fridge and also dining table - amazing Bed - amazing Location - amazing Everything in this house is just spot on! It's amazing! We loved it and it definitely worth to pay little extra! The people who run IL Geco do amazing job! :) Top tip : maybe 30 seconds from your doorstep is amazing view over the ancient caves and mountain! Loved it :)
