Hotel Canton dell'Orto, hotel in Padova

Attractively set in the Padova City Centre district of Padova, Hotel Canton dell'Orto is situated 5 km from Gran Teatro Geox, 2.3 km from PadovaFiere and 280 metres from Prato della Valle.

This hotel and room was exceptional. It seems to work as annexe to hotel casa pelligrino, which is nearby …but the site and rooms are excellent..excellent value for money and a friendly and informative receptionist. It is located near the fabulous botanical gardens and the church of santo Antonio and Donatello’s famous equestrian statue of Gattamelata. It is also close by way of via santo to the main shopping precincts and old piazza’s of Padova. It is about a 20 minute walk from the hotel to the scrovegni chapel. The cycle path from Vicenza to venezia skirts the edge of the city and using google maps the hotel area can be reached easily.

Hotel Patavium, hotel in Padova

Hotel Patavium is situated 10-12 min walking from the Heart of City Centre of Padua, the main Train station and Scrivegni Chapel.

Good location for walking to the centre of town, cafes, restaurants, shops and station. Local buses stop outside the hotel, going to the town and the station. Venice, Verona, Treviso and Bologna can easily be reached by train. A small hotel with different room options. We enjoyed having a larger room with a good sized terrace on the first floor with a fridge and kettle. There is a good sized communal terrace with tables, chairs and sun loungers on the first floor. Breakfast could be enjoyed in the dining room, sun room or outside in the garden. A wide variety of cold breakfast items were available. Staff were friendly and helpful and communication was good prior to our stay.

FAQs about hotels in Padova

Academic and Artistic Greatness

An artistic gem, Padua (or Padova in Italian) seamlessly combines awe-inspiring heritage and a modern vibe. Counting Galileo among its former tutors, the University has the world’s oldest UNESCO World Heritage-listed botanical garden.

Across the road is huge Prato della Valle, a green square with a canal lined by 78 statues, and home to a Saturday market. A market is also held in squares near to Palazzo della Ragione whose multi-levelled arches and vaulted wooden ceiling are an impressive sight. Cobbled, porticoed streets lead to the finely-crafted Gran Loggia and clock tower.

Every church has incredible décor, but the most famous is Saint Anthony of Padua, boasting the bones of the saint, an impressive 7 cupolas and 4 cloisters. The square in front has a statue by Donatello. Padua Cathedral's simple exterior houses amazing frescoes inside the baptistery by Giotto, creator of the jewel in Padua’s crown – the Scrovegni Chapel. His 14th century frescoes there have been meticulously restored to be as vibrant as the day they were painted.

The closest airport is Venice Marco Polo, but before you head there from your Padua hotel, apartment or B&B take time to enjoy the narrow streets around Palazzo del Bò or the Jewish district.

When in Padua use the tram.

When in Padua use the tram. It runs north/south right through the center of town. Cheap, get an Urbs Picta card, and easy to get to all the sights - Scrovengi at one end and St. Anthony's at the other. The Scrovengi Chapel is a must see, but you must make reservations in advance. It is almost impossible to get same day tickets. Use their website or call the number - sometimes the Urbs Picta card will also get you chapel admission, but call them as sometimes it does not.

Padova is a fabulous city for people who like history, art, architecture, and culture. It is easy to move around the city on foot, and the city bus service is cheap, frequent, reliable and comfortable for places further out. The large student population makes for a very vibrant atmosphere, as do the outdoor markets in the piazzas. The Scrovegni Chapel and Basilica of St Anthony are outstanding places to visit, but if you have time, tour the University. It is an inspiring experience to stand where giants of science, medicine and philosophy developed the ideas that shaped the world. Here you can see the lectern from which Galileo taught mathematics, and the world's first anatomy and dissection theatre, as well as lecture halls where the walls are covered with plaques commemorating famous alumni.

we couldn't find better place in Padova. in the heart of the old city, with really good conditions inside, and what most important, with very kind and helpful host of the hotel - Susi. together with her daugther they provide everything which is expected by visitors. so we've really sorry, that we only spent one day at that place. so if You plan to visit Padova, definitely You could choose Casa Battisti for stay (and definitely longer than one night). We came for the first time and only for 1 night, but we were surrounded by the attention and care of Filippo and his family as if we were regular guests. Filippo told us a lot of interesting things about the city and recreation opportunities around. We were very surprised how beautiful and interesting Padova is. We felt the atmosphere of real Italy here, both in the house and in the city. It was a fantastic experience. We'll definitely come back. Thank you!

Service was exceptional. In particular, the lady at breakfast managed to serve (due to COVID restrictions buffet was restricted) all our family while there were other guests as well. On the other hand, in other hotels we stayed at in Italy, this proved more than challenging for waitresses. Parking and garage was abundant, after parking in Italy for more than a week this was a relief
