This place was fabulous. So clean and the host Simon was great. We had to extend our stay due to a family bereavement and he was extremely accommodating. We will definitely stay here again.

Good roads, easy to get around (no problems using gps maps) Saturday markets, fresh seafood, close to shopping centre. Our function was catered and the food was amazing. Short walk for evening swim at the beach.
Close to other townships eg: Katikati.

The CBD seems alright, can be explored on foot.
The CBD seems alright, can be explored on foot. The highlight of our trip was Mt Maunganui. The Mount Hotpools was wonderful (pricey though), beautiful tiles, water and view. And the stretch of the Maunganui beach was just beautiful. We picked one far away from the centre (and towards Papamoa) where there was lifeguard, and truly enjoyed the waves for hours. It a great place for families who love spending time in the open water.

It is a travel destination that I definitely want to visit at least once a year.
I would like to recommend that you climb Mount Manganui and take a hot spring bath in the salt springs.
I can't forget the size and taste of Copenhagen ice cream across from the salt springs.
Playing in the water or walking on the beach are healing points that cannot be missed.
Cost-effectiveness of accommodation is one of the most disappointing aspects of most travel destinations.

Beautiful looking place, great climate, but a lot of blatant racism. Lots of indigenous artwork around city was vandalised. A lot of scowls from people when speaking re reo Māori (even with basic greetings).

There are plenty of bars and places to eat, the city is pleasant enough although access to the harbour is limited and the whole place is overshadowed by its proximity to Mt Maunganui and its fabulous beaches.
David and Tatiana are wonderful hosts. They were welcoming, organized and helpful. Our room was so comfortable and clean. We enjoyed being able to use the guest lounge area as well. Breakfasts were fabulous with plenty of choices - a great way to start the day. We found the location great for doing day trips (by car) to Maunganui, up towards Coromandel and down to Rotorua. Also enjoyed being able to walk to a local restaurant. Thank you David and Tatiana for making Tauranga a memorable experience!
The host was very friendly and welcoming. The room was very tidy and warm. The bathroom was very tidy and shower has good pressure. The place was very convenient for us and close to my family. Good and safe carpark for our car.
It was the second time we stayed here and the best out of the other motels we stayed with previously in Tauranga. We will definitely go back again when we visit family. Will recommend to relations and friends,
Although the town itself felt really deserted and quiet, the room we stayed in was absolutely huge and had wonderful air conditioning which was very much needed during the cold Tauranga nights. The washing machine was also a fantastic addition which we were very grateful for! The whole property felt exceptionally clean and the bathroom felt brand new, we enjoyed our stay here.
I came here with my dog to compete in the Tauranga dog show, the property has a gate that leads right into a park so I was able to toilet and walk my dog each morning and evening with total ease. The location was perfect for what I needed, with shops nearby. It was my first time in Tauranga and it was wonderful!
I booked late via bookings.com as I was in Tauranga for a family beavement.
I was contacted by Simon from the hotel requesting g my approx arrival time and to arrange for a key to be left. I advised him I would be there approx 8 pm. I was running late but he waited for me. Next morning checkout was seamless
The hotel was perfect and just what we were hoping, Amazing historic building and a tidy modern and clean room. All staff were excellent. The NZ cuisine restaurant was the best, possibly the best in Tauranga, breakfast was equally amazing.
Can't fault the Clarence, we are looking forward to our next stay.
Very good accommodation for a one night stay over. .very clean, handy to the town center .and most reasonable price.
I was in Tauranga attending the National Iwi Chairs Forum at Tauranga Racecourse.
Govt Minister's Potaka, Bishop, Goldsmith, Upston , and Simonds.
Beautiful place and very friendly hosts..
Very close to Tauranga but yet away from all the noise.. enjoyed lovely breakfast and evening spa with sunset .. our 5 yr old would vanish for few minutes running behind birds but we wouldn't worry as it's very safe..
This wasn't like a normal hotel. It's uniqueness was very cool. The decor was great. It was clean and well kept. It was in a good location with restaurants, bars, and the water within walking distance.
One block away from Tauranga's shopping and restaurant area with onsite parking. The owners were a very friendly couple, and upgraded us to a larger and more spacious room.
What was advertised on trivago did not match what I was given. The state of the place is not clean, foul odour and messy with staff eating and hanging out in the main area
Great facilities with friendly hosts and excellent cleanliness. The accommodation is also located conveniently close to the Tauranga Crossing shopping center.
